Experiencing childhood in a slope Brahmin family in the Tarai, I am a direct witness to the considerate bigotry against Madhesis, Muslims, Dalits and Tharus of this nation. It came as a disclosure to me that Prithvi Narayan Shah's greenhouse of the lodge did not exist past classroom dividers. It hit home when some of my companions were served in paper plates in our homes, or when I saw an old Madhesi being embarrassed and compelled to give away his seat in an open transport.
It took me a while to acknowledge why blacktop streets all of a sudden vanished and the waste lines finished when I cycled into a Madhesi or Muslim neighborhood where a significant number of my colleagues lived.
A long time later, when I went into remote and country areas, finding out about the best and the most noticeably awful practices of advancement, the Orwellian tint of our majority rules system uncovered itself.
